"Forget Epstein"? Trump, Truth Social, and the Cowardice of Elites

This week, Donald Trump took to Truth Social to tell his followers what he really thinks about Jeffrey Epstein: "Nobody cares about Epstein. Leave it alone." That wasn't a slip-up. That was a calculated attempt to shut down the very line of questioning that threatens to blow the lid off decades of elite abuse, corruption, and cover-ups.

Let’s be clear. Trump partied with Epstein. Trump praised Epstein. Trump told New York Magazine in 2002 that Epstein was a "terrific guy" who "likes beautiful women as much as I do, many of them on the younger side." This isn't a conspiracy. It's a matter of public record.

And now, facing increasing scrutiny after AG Pam Bondi was caught in the fallout of newly released Epstein files, Trump wants to change the subject. He doesn’t want the base he built on "draining the swamp" to look too hard at the real monsters who have always thrived in it.

Trump's message to MAGA was loud and clear: Loyalty to me comes before truth, before justice, and before the victims.

What’s worse? Some on the right are swallowing it. Conservative influencers who built their brand on "saving the children" are suddenly quiet. Or worse, echoing the same tired distraction tactics.

But working people see through it. Regular folks out here in the forgotten places of this country do care. About justice. About the abuse of power. About who got rich, who got protected, and who got hurt while the cameras were off.

And here’s the twist Trump didn’t see coming: even the MAGA faithful aren’t buying this one. The comment sections under his Truth Social post lit up with fury. People weren’t just angry, they were betrayed. Some were posting videos burning their Trump hats, others calling him out by name, saying this was a step too far. For all the ways MAGA rage is often misdirected, one thing has always rung true, many of them genuinely believe in protecting kids. And now Trump is out here defending the memory of a dead pedophile tied to the rich and powerful? That’s not going to sit right with folks who came into this movement to expose the elites, not protect them.

Trump wants you to believe this is a distraction. It’s not. It’s the core rot. A billionaire who used the tools of government and media to shield his own. A political class that protects itself while turning working-class rage into campaign donations.

The Flannel Fist doesn’t forget. We remember the victims. We remember the enablers. And we sure as hell won’t leave it alone.
